Action against hunger : an ngo at the service of humanity
Distinguished by its presence in the field and its unwavering commitment, Action Against Hunger (AAH) is a major force in the fight against world hunger. With a history dating back to 1979, this international non-governmental organization (NGO) has become a symbol of solidarity and concrete action. Staffed with a dedicated team of humanitarian professionals and volunteers, AAH deploys its resources in the most critical emergency situations. From war-torn conflict zones to regions hit by natural disasters and food crises, these teams mobilize to provide vital assistance to the most vulnerable populations.
AAH’s insurance coordinator, Guilhem Cazaux, ensures that Action Against Hunger aid workers abroad are properly insured. Having recourse to insurance protection mechanisms, he seeks to meet the needs of teams deployed in the most complex security contexts. This is where Ambrelia comes in.
a dynamic duo: aah and ambrelia united for global security
AAH first worked with Ambrelia at the beginning of the war in Ukraine, on the recommendation of another NGO, Médecins du Monde. At the time, AAH was having difficulty insuring its humanitarian workers this country at war, whether for personal accident cover or medical evacuations. Action Against Hunger subsequently organized a call for tenders, in which Ambrelia participated and was eventually selected.
Having a good knowledge of NGOs, particularly in the humanitarian sector, and having demonstrated the expertise required to meet their specific needs, Ambrelia was able to convince the AAH team.
In September 2023, Ambrelia became AAH’s broker, offering covers in about fifty countries and insurance solutions for business travel and medical evacuations, as well as for the health, life and disability insurance needs of expatriate employees.

Optimizing the safety of humanitarian workers: Ambrelia’s added value
AMBRELIA’S PROPOSAL
Ambrelia is committed to ensure the safety of humanitarian workers by negotiating the insurance contracts entrusted by AAH. The fact that these contracts come up for renewal on January 1st, required careful planning and anticipation of future needs. Ambrelia was able to meet these requirements by proposing new solutions and new insurers at the end of the year. Their proposals met the expectations of Guilhem and the AAH teams, offering interesting options that matched their specific needs.
“By fulfilling the specifications and meeting our expectations, Ambrelia reinforced our confidence in their ability to provide long-term security for our expatriate teams.”
Guilhem
the team’s professional qualities
AAH was very satisfied with its collaboration with Ambrelia. The solutions proposed by the team corresponded to the organization’s specific needs, particularly in terms of contracts for international travel and medical evacuations. Ambrelia’s knowledge of the humanitarian sector was an invaluable asset, enabling a better understanding of the issues and needs of Action Against Hunger, and to obtain adequate cover from insurers.
The Ambrelia team proved to be very attentive, professional and solution-oriented. Guilhem particularly appreciated their structured and creative response, as well as their human and personalized approach. Their involvement in the case and their willingness to improve the insurance contracts were much appreciated by the AAH team.
“We’ve noticed regular interaction and a great ease of communication. In humanitarian work, communication and attention to the needs of others are key.“
Guilhem
looking to the future: the partnership’s promising prospects
The start of this promising partnership suggests future opportunities to extend the collaboration to other aspects of AAH’s staff insurance, with the aim of simplifying processes and improving global coverage for humanitarian workers. The aim is to further centralize contract management with Ambrelia, for a complete view of insurance contracts relating to AAH’s international employees, and for more efficient and simplified management. This partnership is part of a global approach aimed at optimizing resources and reinforcing the security of Action Against Hunger’s international staff.
“Ambrelia has demonstrated an in-depth understanding of the issues and challenges we face in the territories where we operate.”
Guilhem
