Life and disability France
Life insurance in France provides financial protection against unforeseen events such as death, disability or incapacity for work. At AMBRELIA, we help you assess your needs and choose the best provident solution to ensure your peace of mind.
The three levels of provident cover in France
Basic social security scheme
This scheme provides basic cover for events likely to result in loss of income, such as illness, maternity, accidents, unemployment or death. Benefits will be paid after a waiting period, generally three days for absence from work due to illness or accident.
Compulsory supplementary scheme
Employers are required by law to provide supplementary provident cover. The law of 19 January 1978 requires companies to guarantee a certain level of salary to employees with at least one year’s seniority in the event of sick leave or accident. In addition, the national collective agreement of March 1947 requires death cover for managerial staff.
Typical benefits under group provident insurance contracts
Daily allowances
Paid in the event of temporary work stoppage, they compensate for loss of income during the period of incapacity.
Education annuity
A benefit intended for dependent children in the event of the death of the insured, to finance their education up to a specified age.
Life annuity
A benefit paid for life in the event of loss of independence or total and permanent disability, providing a regular income.
Death benefits
A sum paid to beneficiaries in the event of the policyholder’s death, to help the family cope with the financial consequences.
The double effect
An additional benefit offering a lump sum in the event of simultaneous or subsequent death of the insured and his/her spouse.
Group life and disability insurance for companies
This level of cover is designed to supplement the benefits provided under the compulsory scheme and the supplementary scheme. Companies can choose whether to make this cover compulsory or optional for their employees, thus providing additional protection against the hazards of life.
