On 27–28 May 2026, we will be attending the annual Global Interagency Security Forum (GISF) conference in London — a key event bringing together the humanitarian security community.
GISF plays a vital role in fostering collaboration between NGOs, international organisations and partners, with the shared goal of strengthening security risk management and improving the protection of personnel operating in increasingly complex environments.
This year’s conference will open with a keynote from Dr Rurik Marsden, offering insights into how shifting political and security dynamics are shaping humanitarian operations today.
Across the two days, the programme will explore some of the sector’s most pressing challenges, including:
🔹 The evolution of the global security landscape, emerging threats and shrinking civic space, and their impact on humanitarian access and staff safety
🔹 Opportunities for collaboration and shared approaches to enhance security capacity and duty of care
🔹 The future of UN–NGO engagement, particularly in light of ongoing UN reforms
🔹 Donor perspectives on supporting security as a collective good
A dedicated session will also focus on the Declaration on the Protection of Humanitarian Personnel, supported by over 100 states, highlighting concrete steps towards its implementation.
The second day will feature interactive breakout sessions addressing key operational topics such as:
✔️ Strengthening security support in restricted and high-risk contexts
✔️ Promoting meaningful local participation in security coordination mechanisms
✔️ Building private sector partnerships to enhance security risk management while addressing ethical considerations
👉 In an increasingly complex and uncertain operational environment, the GISF Conference offers a unique opportunity to exchange insights, share best practices and strengthen collective approaches to humanitarian security.
We look forward to seeing you there!
